The first standard in the College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards for Reading under the Common Core State Standards for Language Arts says, in part,

Louise Robinson-Lay‘s insight:

Rather than disrupting the flow of student reading we need to teach them strategies to think about analysing the texts they read and skills of using evidence to support their analysis and interpretations.
